Dondo - Talking drum

The dondo is an African talking drum from Ghana.

Ghanaians use this drum to transmit messages, in the same way that Senegalese use their tama to communicate remotely.

The dondo is an hourglass shaped drum placed under the armpit and struck with a stick. The compression of the arm allows the pitch of the sound to be changed, allowing it to sound like African tonal languages.
