Goni (balafon wood, hare) is the densest wood used in the fabrication of Malian djembes. Widely appreciated in Burkina Faso for its acoustic qualities, it is also used in the fabrication of the keys for balafons (African xylophones).

Couldn’t ask for more! The sound of this special Lenke wood ! goatskin, Guinean. Djembe is all that I hoped it would be and more. Perfectly tuned. The most authentic sound, resonance and vibe. Beautiful carving. Goat hair folded over the rings. Rubber tyre on the foot.
